Multitasking is the major upgrade that everyone is hoping will be in the the iPhone OS 4.0, although it may work slightly different than many of us expect, We have heard previously that multi tasking on the iPhone may work the same way Expose works on Mac OS.
We may also see some of the iPad’s features available on the iPhone in 4.0, like the ability to customize background wallpaper, using the iPhone in both portrait and landscape mode, which is currently available on the iPad, which is running the iPhone OS 3.2 whilst the iPhone and iPod Touch are running 3.1.

There are no details on shipping dates at the moment but the in car recordign device can be purchased from Hanwha’s product page for approx $157.

Firefox To Get Direct2D Hardware Acceleration

With new media gaming technology and streaming video websites browsers will be put under more and more strain in te future. Mozilla is looking to tackle this issue by developing a Direct2D feature that will allow the Firefox browser to use the graphic power directly from your graphics card.
The Direct2D support is only currently in alpha build and wont probably make the next release for Gecko 1.9.3 in October but developers are hoping a minor release will be ready shortly after. Which would enable Firefox to provide a faster browsing experience for its users.
However Mozilla is not the only company currently researching hardware acceleration. Chrome developers have begun working on project ANGLE.
Allowing  them to create a Direct3D-based implementation of WebGL. An upcoming web 3D graphics standard to be used with HTML5. The WebGL technology is already proving impressive, helping Googlers run a Quake 2 port inside a browser.

TomTom iPhone app hits 1.3, gains real-time traffic and Google local search

Here lately, Navigon has been crushing it on the iPhone GPS front. Every couple of weeks, it seems that MobileNavigator is getting yet another fantastic update, all while TomTom's lackluster offering hangs back in the land of complacency. Thankfully for us all, the outfit has just pushed out the v1.3 update, which adds real-time traffic (an unfortunate $19.99 add-on), Google local search, updated roadways, automatic music fading between text-to-speech instructions and the ability to add locations from other apps and websites. We'd still recommend Navigon's software if you're looking to buy into iPhone GPS for the first time, but this is certainly a boon for those already locked into the TomTom alternative.

Samsung's SMX-C20UN is compact, oddly angled, and YouTube friendly

Samsung's had this thing with the angled lenses lately. Apparently the camera is much more ergonomic when pointed down 25 degrees -- which is probably a much less natural shooting position as well, but we'll leave that up to you to decide. Anyways, the company's newest such beauty, the SMX-C20UN, features a 2.7-inch display, 1/6-inch (680K) CCD sensor, 10x optical zoom, SDHC storage, and support for H.264 video. As is usually the case nowadays, video can be edited on the camera and uploaded directly to YouTube -- perfect for capturing those embarrassing v-blogs before you sober up and your social filter kicks in. Available now for $200.

First High-Energy Collisions Completed in Geneva

The first collisions from the Large Hadron Collider LHC the world’s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator took place in Geneva just after noon today BST.Ending more than a year of frustration for scientists on the project.
“This is a major breakthrough. We are going where nobody has been before. We have opened a new territory for physics” explained Oliver Buchmueller, one of the key scientists on the Cern project.
In the experiment the atomic particles are smashed together in head-on collisions, with each beam having an energy of 3.5 trillion electron volts.
Scientists are mimicking the conditions moments after the Big Bang and hope that the LHC will eventually find evidence for the existence of the Higgs boson. A particle that theoretically gives matter mass that has never been detected before. Giving new insights into the nature of the strong interaction and the evolution of matter in the early Universe.

iPhone 3.1.3 Jailbreak for iPod Touch 3G, Baseband 05.12 Unlock Scam Warning

The iPhone Dev Team has issued a warning against sites offering an iPhone 3.1.3 jailbreak for new devices such as the iPod Touch 3G and 05.12 baseband unlock in exchange for cash. It certainly sounds enticing for newbies who want to jailbreak their new iPhone/iPod Touch, but don’t be fooled, there is no such thing available right now. The PwnageTool 3.1.5 for iPhone OS 3.1.3 doesn’t work on those Apple devices that already have the new jailbreak-proof bootrom installed on it, and neither is a 05.12 baseband unlock in existence at the moment. It’s all just a scam.
On a good note, however, the team is proud to let everyone know that they’ve found a possible way to unlock the new 05.12 baseband. With that being said, it’s still too early to lay down a roadmap for this new iPhone unlock as they’ve yet to verify if it indeed works. Rest assured though, the iPhone Dev Team is hard at work in coming up with an appropriate unlock for the 05.12 baseband. All they request is some patience on everyone’s side so that no one will fall victim to scammers out there.

Toshiba Launches 750GB and 1TB Notebook Hard Drives

Toshiba moved notebook storage a significant step forward on Wednesday night by launching the MK7559GSXP. The 2.5-inch drive is the first to hold 750GB but reach the same 9.5mm (0.37in) height as most slimmer notebook hard drives. As such, it can provide the capacity expected of a desktop hard drive but fit into thin-and-light notebooks like the MacBook Pro as well as all-in-one desktops and digital media hubs.
